Aquatic Therapy - A Nice Option to Cure Back Pain

Aquatic Therapy - A Nice Option to Cure Back Pain

If you are Tired of spending much money for various medications and therapies to get rid of your back pain, you need to consider aquatic therapy. This exercise is simple, cheap, and safe, giving you a peaceful mind because of no side effects, while providing an enjoyable activity to be free from back pain.

Working out in water is something relaxing, and many people even think that it is fun and pleasant. Aquatic therapy avoid you from getting bored of going to doctors and therapists to cure your back pain, while in contrast it allows you to work on back and core strengthening in a pool, a place anyone like.

Aquatic therapy gives you all key for a healthy spine which you can get from strengthened back, ab, and hip muscles. When you are in water, you may think that it is like weight training, which is caused by the flow of water resistance of moveMent.

Aquatic therapy allows you to feel water buoyancy that takes weight and load off of your joints. Performing moveMents is easy as you experience a significant degree of weightlessness caused by the water buoyancy. As the joints are loaded off, the joint pain is also decreased. Further, it helps you to reach a goal in which you can take your body part through full path of motion. Knowing this, it is important for beginners to begin the process slowly as it can lead to risks of re-injury.

There are several activities you can do during aquatic therapy, such as kicks, water walking, ab exercises, and bicycling which you can do in deep water. These activities allow your hips to work, giving you benefits of stabilized low back. During the exercise, you can use aquatic equipMent to help you focus on the core muscles, such as dumbbells and flotation belt. Using the equipment supports you in stabilizing body posture.

Dish Network - Business Strategy Principles for your Home Business

Dish Network - Business Strategy Principles for your Home Business

Dish Network boasts an impressive clientele of more than 5 million monthly subscribers. Significantly, though they are only the second largest distributor of satellite television service, they have been voted #1 in customer service by J.D. Power and Associates. While every business has, by necessity, a different business plan, a careful look at some of the things Dish Network has done to be successful will yield a few principles that will help your small business to succeed.

Echo-Star owns Dish Network, and they are currently in negotiation with one of their channel providers because the provider is demanding a higher per-package, per-user fee each month. The demand, though an increase of only a few pennies per user, represents millions of Dollars in the short and long term for Dish. I present the conflict here to demonstrate Dish's commitMent to minimizing costs. Rather than just rolling over and accepting the fee increase, Dish Network is demonstrating to their customers their commitMent to providing their services at the lowest cost possible. For any business to be successful, and I assume that is the goal for your home business, it must bring in more revenue than it shells out. Being diligent in fighting to minimize your own costs will go a long way towards that end.

Perhaps the reason you started your own business was because you craved the autonomy that came inherently with "being your own boss." No more corporate ladders to climb or be pushed off. No more answering to someone that knows less than you do about just about everything. Perhaps it did not take long to notice that absolute freedom is hard to come by. Unless you produce the raw materials, refine them, create a marketable good, and sell it completely on your own, your business decisions are limited somewhat by others. The webhost sets the monthly hosting fee. The bank sets your monthly car payment. Even the office Supplies you use are priced by someone else. Dish Network's taking issue with the fee increase represents their dedication to retaining some of that autonomy we all desire for our businesses. Even if you can't set the prices, you certainly can negotiate them. Unless you are absolutely sure you are getting the best deal possible on the materials you purchase, make a phone call and talk to someone about it. In the end, the producer's relationship with you, the consumer, affects their bottom line.

One of the biggest concerns Dish Network faced in the new millenium was how to continue to provide their award-winning customer service cost-effectively. Hundreds of thousands of new subscribers were adding themselves to the millions of current subscribers, and they all eventually needed help. Customer service was performed completely over the telephone at a cost of to each call. Dish looked to technology to provide additional venues where customer service interactions could play themselves out. This led to solutions that would be available through the customer's satellite receiver at home and online solutions, where the customer could view and make changes to their account without requiring the services of an employee, thus providing the same customer service while cutting down on costs. The lesson that should be learned from this example is that technology, when implemented correctly, can save costs and increase the efficiency with which we are able to provide services to our customers. What tasks do you find yourself doing by hand over and over again? With a little bit of time and money invested could you automate the process, or allow customers to do the task themselves by putting on your website?

The magnitude of work required to produce and integrate Dish Network's new customer service solutions is baffling. Now consider that they planned for and implemented the technological changes to their customer service process in less than five months. The home business principle to learn from this is speed is a necessity, not a luxury. To compete with your competitors, you need to provide the same product at a higher quality, Faster speed, or lower price. What changes do you need to make in order to streamline your business? Is there something that you are doing now that you could do without? By all means, weigh your options carefully and make a decision you feel comfortable with. But once the decision is made, move on it. Your customers will appreciate your decisiveness and innovation.

Dish Network is a thriving, multimillion Dollar business, due in large part to the way they analyze and execute their business strategy. Using equal discretion, innovation, and decisiveness could boost your business as well.

Amazing Back Benefits of Teeter Hangups

Amazing Back Benefits of Teeter Hangups

One company has stood head and shoulders above all in the manufacturing of back inversion tables - Teeter Hang-ups. The company is named after its founder, Roger Teeter, who suffered from chronic back pain and have rounded all blocks searching for a cure. After trips to the usual medical doctors, chiropractors and masseuse, he discovered a Fast-emerging answer to chronic back pain - inversion therapy and established his own company, Teeter Hangups.

Inversion therapy involves assuming an inverted or upside down position as a means to alleviate the symptoms of chronic back pain and also as treatMent for herniated disk. To understand the effect of inversion, you must understand the negative effect of gravity on the usual upright position that we humans assume.

In the upright position, the force of gravity pulls our bodies from the head down to the feet. It doesn't matter if you are standing, sitting, or even lying down, gravity acts in the long run to compress the spine, misalign your back and pinch nerves and discs. Compounded with lack of exercise, obesity and aging, chronic back pain is sure to ensue.

Roger Teeter of Teeter Hangups discovered this principle in the early 1980's when the developMent of back inversion tables was just starting. He started doing inversion therapy and got the answer he has long been looking for for his back pain. Later, he vigorously published the efficacy of inversion therapy to cure back pain to his family and friends.

His personal success with back inversion consumed him with a passion to build his own line of back inversion tables. This gave birth to his brainchild - the Teeter Hangups company. As a former engineer at Boeing, he wants no less than precision, durability and safety in his products, the kind which he would not be ashamed to attach his name to. Since 1981 to the present, Teeter Hangups has blazed a glorious trail in the thriving industry of back inversion tables.

Teeter Hangups has a wide range of back inversion tables which are either manual or motorized, with or without accessories, cheap or expensive. All have conformed to the Underwriters' Laboratories or UL standard, a fact which other brands of back inversion tables do not have.

Teeter Hangups has a continual consultation with sports trainers, chiropractors and clients to maintain the quality of and continuously upgrade their products. It also helps that the Teeter Hangups company maintains an excellent website where one can see vivid pictures and product descriptions of their lifegear inversion tables, a discussion on back inversion therapy, product reviews and comments by satisfied clients and a body map tool to guide users into choosing the right back inversion product.

Teeter Hangups products come with a 5-year warranty and will give a 100% refund on items returned by unsatisfied customers within 30 days after purchase. It provides product literature, shipping tracker and store locators as part of their consumer service.

Clearly, Teeter Hangups is not some fly-by-night solely-profit-driven company. It is borne out of the personal success story of its founder and a commitment to safety, quality and comfort.

Which Back Stretcher Should You Choose?

Which Back Stretcher Should You Choose?

If you have back pain, then you need to find a way to effectively stretch your back. Actually, even if you don't have back pain you need to find a good way to stretch it out. The good news is that there are many great back stretching equipMent options that you have to choose from.

My personal favorite is simply using an inversion table. In my opinion there is not a better piece of equipMent for decompressing your spine and discs in your back, thus relieving the pressure that builds up during the day.

However, this does not mean that I only use inversion tables to relieve my back pain. In fact, I actually suggest strongly to use both an inversion table and some type of lumbar extender together. I like lumbar extenders in that they allow me to lay down and literally reverse the way my back gets when I hunch over a Computer all day long. That inverted back stretch is amazing, and is very easy to get accustomed to.

There are several different options that you have when it comes to purchasing a lumbar extender--just do a simple Google search and you will find them. However, there are two main options. One is a larger, wooden piece that allows you to lay almost your whole body on and stretch. This is my favorite type. However, this is not cheap nor is it portable. If the latter two issues are also issues for you, then you may want to purchase the smaller lumbar extender, as you can find ones that cost only about and can flatten and are so light that you can even travel with them if necessary.

Troubleshooting Your Dish Network Receiver

Troubleshooting Your Dish Network Receiver

It has happened to all of us. It's fourth and ten with just 1:42 to go in the second half - and of course your team is down. The weather outside is getting worse and worse. Suddenly, the image on your TV looks eerily like the Snow falling outside your window. It is a race against the game clock to get picture back on your TV before you have to resign and just look for the score on the evening news.

Remember, only on a rare occasion will you lose picture with Dish Network - when you do, more often than not, there is nothing wrong with your equipMent or the service. This article discusses some of the easiest and Fastest ways to troubleshoot your Dish Network receiver. From High in the Sky to Your Dish Network Receiver

Dish Network uploads programming to its satellites via gigantic transmission stations on earth. The digital image travels upward through the atmosphere where it eventually finds satellites orbiting the Earth miles above the United States. Those satellites capture and resend the digital signal in such a way that nearly everyone with a plain view of the sky can receive it. The signal is collected by the ubiquitous mini-dishes and sent through cables to your Dish Network receiver, which is set up to decode and convert the digital signal to a viewable picture. That viewable picture is transferred to your brand-new, 56 inch widescreen plasma TV, where only moMents ago you were Watching the second half of your favorite team's football game. The Game Plan

If you suddenly lose picture on your TV, the problem could be in any one of six places - but before you panic, let me tell you you're only going to have to check four of them. The Dish - If something interferes with the signal getting from the satellite down to your dish the picture is obviously going to suffer. If the signal is completely blocked, your picture will disappear. Make sure that there is nothing between your dish and where your dish is pointing in the sky. This could include: a tree branch, your motor home, your neighbor's motor home, a build-up of Snow, ice, or excessive water on the dish, or anything else you could possibly imagine. Luckily, the solution is simple. Get the signal flowing freely back to your Dish Network receiver by removing the obstruction. Of course, if the obstruction is your neighbor's prize winning oak tree, be judicious as you contemplate ways of removing it (i.e. talk to her about it and figure out a solution together). If it is ice or Snow just wipe the dish clean, and you'll be back to your game before they even snap the ball. The Cables and Connections - The wiring and connecting pieces that carry the signal from the dish to your Dish Network receiver could also be part of the problem. It is unlikely that the image will suddenly cut out on you, especially in the fourth quarter, if the wiring is bad. The easiest way to test this is to ensure that the integrity of the cables is still intact and that all of the connections are tight. If you are still not getting picture to your television, try Plugging the cables into another TV, or routing the picture through your VCR. If you still have no football game, try using different cables. If the picture comes back at any time while you are doing this, you've honed in on where the problem is and you can go about fixing it... after the game, of course. Your Dish Network Receiver - On a very rare occasion, your receiver may stop receiving or decoding the signal properly. To fix this, simply unPlug the receiver for 30 seconds and then plug it back in. (Don't worry - 1:42 can last anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes at the end of a football game.) You can also try taking the programming card out of the receiver and then putting it back in again. Both of these steps help reset the receiver, and it should start functioning properly again as soon as you turn it back on. Your New Plasma TV - I'm no expert on troubleshooting TVs that cost more than my car, but checking the cables and connections is never a bad thing. A word of advice from one who has been there and done that - make sure the back of your huge, heavy television is readily accessible. The only thing that will make you more angry than missing the miracle comeback of your favorite team in that game you are missing, is dropping that massive television on your toes as your were breaking your back moving it out from the wall.

The good news is your team came back from behind and won. The better news is you read this article and were able to Watch it live. The best news is you kept your cool and because your wife was so impressed with the way you handled the whole situation, she bought you a pool table.

Things To Consider Before Lifting Weights

Things To Consider Before Lifting Weights

Many woMen find a man's body with bulging muscles very desirable. That's why the workout most Men include in their exercise is weight lifting. It's a great way to improve your muscles and give you that adonis like physique. Before starting your weight training though, there are some things you need to consider for your safety and for great results.

The first thing you have to think about is your strength level. Your strength level will determine how heavy you should start lifting. Who wants to start immediately at 40 pounds when all you can do is 1 lift? It's important to know your limit to avoid getting injured. A great thing to do to find out what weight you should start with is to use the 10 rep rule. You basically have to do 10 repetitions of lifting of the weight you want to start with. If you are still okay after that, the weight is too light for you. If you Tire out before the tenth repetition, that means it's too heavy. If after the tenth rep you feel exhausted, then the weight is just right. This ensures that you avoid causing muscle damage and allowing your muscle the right amount of weight it can handle to develop.

Prepare your equipMent and make sure that they are secure. If you have weight lifting equipment at home, check if they are still in good condition before you use them. Avoid leaving them in high places as well for a very obvious reason that it will hurt someone if it falls down. Having a person to workout with is also a good idea so they can act as your spotter. A spotter can ensure your safety when you are doing lifting on a weight bench. Make sure that you also find a space that has a lot of room for you to move. If you workout in a tight space, it's harder for you to move and do the proper movement. This can lead to accidents as well.

Keep in mind that you don't get bigger muscles by pushing yourself over your limit. You get hurt. Listen to your body when you lift. Don't rush when you lift. It helps with improving your strength but it makes you more prone to getting hurt. Managing your movement allows you to keep the workout focused on the muscle you are targetting. Rushed movements causes unwanted stress on your muscle and joints and the development of muscles you are not working on. Working out slowly does not mean that your muscle will develop at the same pace. When you do weight training, you will eventually develop your strength and increase the weight you lift. Make progress, but be patient and smart about it. Injuries can set you back for long periods of time because recovery periods can be several weeks or month.

Weight lifting is a great way to develop your body and boost your self esteem. Just be sure that you follow the necessary precautions before you start since this is also a potentially dangerous exercise. When done correctly, however, the rewards are many.

Most Constipation Is Self-induced

Most Constipation Is Self-induced

If you suffer from chronic constipation, you should discuss it with your health care provider. The condition can lead to very serious long-term health problems, even death! There is hope however, because usually it is caused by lifestyle choices and can be relieved with some changes in your habits. You certainly want to do whatever you can to avoid taking any medications because all medications have side effects and most treat just the symptoms, not the real problem.

What is the real problem? Usually it is caused by a lack of exercise, a lack fiber in the diet and not enough fluid consumption. By increasing these and a few other changes we'll discuss, most people can be completely regular which is what your digestive system is designed to be. Constipation is a symptom of disease; it is not normal.

For exercise, you must do something that keeps your body moving. Simple as that. It can be as simple as a twenty-minute power walk each day, or a complex routine of various exercise disciplines combined. The main point is that your body can't relieve itself without some muscle tone and a little 'stirring things up'.

Many people are not aware that their bodies contain a substance, more abundant than blood, that functions to rid the cells of waste materials and flush them out. It is called lymph and you have more lymph than blood in you by far. This system is quite efficient, but has no pump. Your heart pumps your blood; muscle contraction moves your lymph. Perhaps this helps you to understand the huge overall benefits of exercise - it assist the body is cleansing itself from the inside out!

Another helpful physical aspect that helps is inversion, which simply means getting the body above the head. Standing on your head like a Yogi may seem strange in relation to constipation, but think about what's happening. All day long, you stand and gravity is pulling on you, including your intestines. Waste material can become packed firmly into the lower intestinal walls, causing blockages and mal-absorption of Food. By inverting yourself, you let gravity pull the other way and move that stuff along. You don't have to stand on your head to invert, but this is not a Yoga lesson. Please speak with a Yoga instructor about this. If you have the means and space, another good option is an inversion table - simple and effective. The reason you are advised to eat five servings of fruit and vegetables a day is primarily for the fiber these Foods provide. That fiber absorbs water, keeping the waste matter soft and therefore able to pass through the digestive tract easily. If you find it difficult for some reason to eat that each day, consider a natural fiber suppleMent, but food is the best source.

As Mentioned above, fiber absorbs water and there wants to be plenty of water to do the trick. You have probably heard before that you should drink eight 8-ounce glasses of pure water per day. My advice is to double that, but if you constantly have a water Supply with you and sip at it throughout your day, you can easily increase your intake of this "King Of Foods" (That's an African proverb.)

Finally, consider the modern toilet. It was apparently created by another species, because the natural position for elimination in humans and primates is to squat. This positions the bowel properly for an easy emptying, whereas sitting puts a bend in it creating a stopping point. Just because we've been sitting on toilets for hundreds of years does not mean it's the best way and many cultures do not do this. They squat and few have constipation.

So place a stool (a step stool!), in front of the john and put your feet up on it. Use a low one at first, as this will seem awkward and then slowly raise the feet until the knees are above the hips. You may find it difficult to believe, but this simple thing can be hugely beneficial in easing this most natural of functions.

What Does an Inversion Table Actually Do? How Does it Eliminate Back Pain?

What Does an Inversion Table Actually Do? How Does it Eliminate Back Pain?

An inversion gravity table has been shown to be one of the most effective ways to relieve back pain. In fact, a study by Newcastle University in England showed that inversion tables were able to reduce the need for surgery more than 70% of the time. This alone is a reason to at least try inversion therapy before you go under the knife. But what does an inversion table actually do?

First, let's look at how the spine works. The spine is composed of vertebrae. In between the vertebrae are spinal disks that absorb impact and stress. Over time, these disks are exposed to a treMendous amount of pressure. There is no time that it is ever not under pressure. Even when you lay down, there is still 30% of force on these disks. The only way to remove 100% of the pressure is to hang upside down.

But how does relieving this pressure actually benefit you? By eliminating all of the pressure, you allow the nerves more freedom. You see, as the spine compresses, this can put additional pressure on the nerves leading from the spinal column. By letting the spinal disks decompress, you release those nerves. This can greatly cut down on most back pain.

Now, you want to use an inversion gravity table 10 minutes a day. Don't start with a full inversion, especially if you are a beginner. Instead, start with a slight recline. Work your way up a little further each session, until you are fully inverted. Then stay inverted for a minute, and gradually add time to each session until you are able to stay inverted for a full ten minutes.

Being inverted for that long will give your spine plenty of time to decompress. This relieves the pressure on the nerves for the rest of the day. After a few days of doing this, you will notice an improveMent in back pain. If you keep doing it, you should eliminate most, if not all back pain.

Once you start to see an improveMent in back pain from using the inversion gravity table, you can progress to other methods of relieving back pain. Exercise can help, especially abdominal exercises. It may sound odd, but strengthening your abdominal muscles can greatly decrease lower back pain. This is because the abdominals support the spinal column, keeping it stabilized. Back and shoulder exercises can also help to improve posture, which also reduces back pain.

What Is a Yoga Swing?

What Is a Yoga Swing?

The familiar poses are performed either supported or in mid Air in order to remove physical barriers and allow the practitioner enhanced comfort and freedom of motion.

The yoga swing is a set of straps that may be hung easily in a tree, at a playground or on a porch. It can be placed anywhere there is a strong support beam. The device allows for advanced practice yoga poses and also can provide you with a very comprehensive full body strength and core workout. A set of instructions accompanies the device illustrating the many exercises possible while using the device.

The device can also be used to practice inversion therapy. This type of therapy allows you to suspend yourself in the upside down position. Inversion therapy has been shown to alleviate back pain, improve flexibility and improve your mood through passive stretching exercises. In contrast to the traditional inversion therapy table, the yoga sling allows you to hang freely suspended and adjust your position for personal comfort.

Since the yoga swing can support your full body weight it is also perfect for gentle stretching as well as free form yoga manoeuvres. This feature of gravity free yoga allows you to perform poses that you may never have attempted before. Gravity free yoga is performed using the supportive straps of the yoga swing, thus eliminating limitations caused by employing your body weight in the yoga poses. The straps may be adjusted to incorporate as much or as little of your body weight as you see necessary in the yoga position.

This device can also be used in conjunction with a partner. The partner may incorporate Massage and traction to your position or they may simply allow you more freedom of expression through alternate acrobatic manoeuvres. The beauty of the yoga sling is in its infinitive versatility as a form of exercise and recreation.

The actual yoga swing consists of very strong silky material that they also use to make parachutes with and comes in really nice colours and designs. There are simple instructions to get started and various ways to hang your yoga swing from trees, a frame or in the home.

If you have any kind of back problem and have tried inversion tables or inversion therapy, you will find a yoga swing much easier and more fun to use. The inversion table I had purchased previously hurt my ankles so much that I sold it within a few weeks. However the yoga swing is perfect for me now.

So How Should We Use an Inversion Back Machine?

So How Should We Use an Inversion Back Machine?

What does inverting mean?

It means to reverse something and that is what we do when we use an inversion table we reverse ourselves so we are up side down.

Why should we look after our spines?

What we do not realise is the damage we do to our spines throughout the day and worse still sleeping on the wrong mattress. Then the problems start which will mean a bleak outlook as we get older and its not nice, so prevention is important to ensure we lead a happy and active life.

Using an inversion table will strengthen the core muscles enabling better posture and less back strain.

It decompresses the spine and releases the blood flow around our body allowing better circulation. Novice users that is beginners should start at half way for the first few days or until you feel comfortable enough with the use of the table and you are able to relax while inverted.

First time users may find they feel dizzy when getting off for the first time like I did, so make sure you come up slowly and relax for a few seconds before getting off the machine. These machines come with height symbols so you should adjust to your own height to ensure proper inversion, otherwise if you do not use the right height symbol you will find inverting hard. You will feel mild stretching of your muscles and joints when you relax on the inversion table and it is a lovely feeling whilst also stimulating the circulation and improving oxygen to the head. You will also notice better hAir growth as blood flows direct to the head, as that was the first thing I noticed when inverting, my hAir became much healthier and thicker so that is another added benefit you will notice.

In full inversion, which I only do if someone is around just in case I can not get back up, as that does take some skill, your body hangs freely to be able to perform inverted exercises and stretching. I do not fully invert very much as I find inverting partially is adequate for me. You may also want to only fully invert for short periods of time to begin with until you become more comfortable as some people may find it too much at first.

But if you are like most people and not too keen to be fully inverted, just listen to your body, increasing the angle of inversion only when you feel comfortable like I did. You will have a wonderful experience and your spine problems will become less of a strain. You should try gentle stretching exercises as well if you can to help move the muscles. In partial inversion, try moving from side-to-side if you can as this will ease the strains of the day.

If you are fully inverting you can do many exercises like abdominal exercises (sit-ups) this is for the most confident of users and the benefits are, strengthening the lower back and pelvis and we all know how important strong abs are. They are the key to a good posture.

Many people also suffer upper back pain problems as well which can be caused by stress and muscle tension. Other causes could be if you have a sitting down Job or just poor posture when standing and sitting. The key to relieving this pain is to totally relax while inverting and doing deep breathing exercises.

If you feel any pain in your back after inverting then you have either rushed back up from inverting or you have spent too long on the inversion table. They say 5 -7 minutes twice a day is plenty and also if you have never inverted before then that could be another reason, because can you remember the last time you was fully inverted, maybe when you was a child like me.So you may be a little sore at first like the feeling we get when we first exercise, the next day our muscles really hurt, so over time we strengthen and adjust to our new routine and become much stronger.

Always remember the great benefits from using this back inversion table and how much money and time you will save not going to see a specialist when ever your back gives you problems.

Use daily and your back problems will become a thing of the past as I am proof of that as my other inversion back review will clearly state what it has done for me, as I had a slipped disc many years ago and spent most of my time with the osteopath in severe pain.My last visit to the osteopath was over 4 years ago. These machines are not expensive and its a small investMent to make for life for all the family.

ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR FIRST BEFORE USING AN INVERSION TABLE.

Do Inversion Tables Really Work?

Do Inversion Tables Really Work?

There are many ways that people try and slim up nowadays. It can be anything from pills to exercise equipMent. No matter what the newest weight loss fad is there are always skepticism and evidence to support each one. The problem with this is that the product always seems to never match with what it says it will do. These are known as "wonder" drugs or "accessories". These are things that say that can do anything from making you lose weight to curing cancer. There is one item that seems to match up with what it says it is capable of though. This new tool is the inversion table. Don't think that this is some sort of graph or even an actual table for it is not. Do inversion tables really work? To learn more read on and I will tell you what it is that makes inversion tables something new to try.

What is an inversion table. What makes inversion so special? What do they say that they can do? How much do they cost? Where can you get them? What are the risks associated with using them?

An inversion table is a device that is built somewhat like a hammock. It is like a chAir that folds out straight or curved backwards. The table boasts its ability to bend to a certain degree. It has several straps for support and safety. It has a variety of uses.

The first use of inversion is for pack pain. There are many problems that can occur with the back with the muscles and such. The inversion allows one to stretch one's back much more than they could naturally and in a controlled environMent. People who have chronic back pain can find much use in a table.

The next use it says it can do is help you lose weight. This is because you can do sit-ups in an inversion chAir and they would be much more comfortable and easy. It would make it more likely for you to want to do sit-ups. It is also great because sit-ups can be associated with causing back pain, which inversion can consequently help alleviate.

They can be obtained from many places. The first place to get them would be the easiest as well. This would be online. You could search through many sites and find a wide variety of inversion tables at different prices and with different brand names. You would also check out your local sporting goods or exercise stores. Some large departMent stores may carry them as well.

There could be some risks associated with it. It does cause you to bend your back into awkward positions and if this isn't done correctly it could cause back problems. You should follow any instructions that come with the machine and any safety guidelines it may have.

That is all there is to know about inversion tables. They have some pretty good practical uses but you should always consult a doctor before trying anything new.

Electrical Stimulation and Low Back Pain

Electrical Stimulation and Low Back Pain

While it is no great secret that a regular doctor has little to offer the back pain sufferer, chiropractors have a lot of weapons they use. There are tables with rollers on them, and some even use inversion tables.

Another method they use is electrical stimulation. I have had this treatMent before, and felt no relief at all. I can not even say I know anyone who has benefited from it.

All I can see it doing stimulating muscles that are already damaged and overworked. It does nothing to build up their strength. It most likely will increase the blood flow, and that may feel like some temporary relief.

For me, electrical stimulation for low back pain is a scam treatMent. You get hooked up to this expensive looking machine and billed accordingly. Any benefit has long vanished before you even get home.

Like most of what the medical profession offers for back pain, electrical stimulation is a bad idea and a waste of your hard earned money. It would be far better for you to understand that a small amount of exercise can do a lot of good.

Hooking up some electrical device to harass already suffering muscles just doesn't make sense. If you do the right exercise, the right way, and at the right time, you will go a long way toward ending your back pain.

Hopefully one day you will learn that doctors and gimmicks can not undo the damage you have allowed to occur in your low back over the years. By applying common sense and caution to exercise you can overcome a life time of negligence in a very short time.

Five Fast Ways to Reduce Spinal Compression

Five Fast Ways to Reduce Spinal Compression

Excess spinal compression can lead to back pain, disc herniations, and osteoarthritis. Here are five easy ways to reduce these harmful forces:

1. Opt to stand rather than sit down whenever possible.

Unbeknown to most people, sitting actually applies about 1.5 times as much compressive force to the spine when compared to standing. Try standing up instead of sitting when you are in a waiting room. When exercising, use the treadmill over the bike and perform more standing weight training exercises than seated exercises.

2. Recline your car seat by 30 to 40 degrees.

As Mentioned in point #1, sitting results in high levels of compressive force in the spine. However, you cannot avoid sitting all the time, such as when driving. By reclining your seat, you can reduce spinal compression to about half that of sitting upright.

3. Sleep with a pillow under the knees (if you sleep on your back) or in between your knees (if you sleep on your side).

There is compressive force acting on the spine even while lying down. This force comes from the contraction of supporting musculature. By using a pillow for support, the muscles are able to relax, nearly eliminating compressive forces in the spine in this position.

4. Use the "golfer's lift" to pick up light objects from the ground rather than bending at the knees.

The golfer's lift is a great and often underused way to pick up light objects off the ground while minimizing spinal impact. It involves bending over at the hip on one leg to reach the floor, much like the way a golfer picks up a golf ball. As long as the object is light and the natural "S" shape of the spine is preserved, this method results in much less spinal force than the popularly quoted "bend at your knees" adage.

5. Use an inversion therapy table if the above 4 points are not enough.

While the above 4 suggestions are a great way to reduce the compressive force experienced by your spine, it may not be enough to eliminate your compression related pain enTirely. In some situations, compressive forces cannot be reduced completely, such as with truck drivers, fire fighters, and emergency medical technicians, as these professions demand periods of sitting and lifting.

If you are still getting pain related to disc compression after impleMenting the four steps above, an inversion table can be an effective way to create forces that oppose and reverse the damage caused by excess compression throughout the day. A few minutes a day on an inversion table in the evening can be a great way to reduce pain caused by excessive spinal compression.

The Evolving Technology: Satellite TV Broadcasting by SBC Dish Network and DirecTV

The Evolving Technology: Satellite TV Broadcasting by SBC Dish Network and DirecTV

With more than 20 millions subscribers in United States, satellite TV broadcasting surely is a big business. The growth of satellite TV business is so Fast and we believe even the big players - Dish Network and DirecTV (Direct TV) did not expect this much at start.

Since satellite TV was invented, there were few types of satellite systems commercialized in the U.S. market. The first type has been around since the late 1970s and early 1980s. These satellite dishes are about six to 12 feet across and require a lot of yard space. These devices are called TVRO satellite systems. These systems are still available today.

People who own TVRO systems are required to have a descrambler. Descramblers are either purchased as separate hardware or they are sometimes inside of the receiver. In addition to having a descrambler, an owner of one of these systems must subscribe to the channels he or she wishes to view. TVRO systems also provide a variety of free channels. These satellites are required to move to locations where various satellites are in space so the signal can be received.

As DirecTV stepped in to the satellite TV business, 18-inch satellite dishes were introduced. DirecTV was the first company to provide 18-inch satellite dishes with all digital quality to their customers. It was also the first company to provide a national system with an interactive on-screen program guide. Later as Dish Network, who also uses the same systems, 18-inch dish became very popular and you can see them everywhere in the country. The 18-inch satellite dishes are operating using DBS, which stands for Direct Broadcast Satellite. Broadcasts are received from high frequency satellites that allow signals to be picked up on small dishes. The dishes used by DirecTV and Dish Network is not required to move.

As the technology evolves, programming and equipMent continue to improve. Thanks to the ever-improving tech and fierce market competition between Dish Network and DirecTV; new satellite TV customers now receive wide choices of programming selection, topnotch picture quality, and unbelievable free-bargains from satellite service providers. You can compare satellite TV systems and find the one that provides the service you need. DirecTV and Dish Network are both popular services.

If you are interested in finding out what a satellite service provider or retailer has to offer, you can find a lot of satellite TV information online. These companies provide people with the opportunity to explore all of their options. They will be delighted to answer any questions a potential customer may have about satellite dish services. Prolapsed Disc - What Alternative Treatments Can Help Avoid Back Surgery?

Prolapsed Disc - What Alternative Treatments Can Help Avoid Back Surgery?

Many sufferers who get the diagnosis of a prolapsed disc promptly wonder if back surgery is in their future. If or not a surgical procedure is the only ideal alternative should be talked about together with one's doctor. However, a high percenTAGe of the patients can easily get back pain treatMent working with far more conservative solutions.

The most popular approaches used in order to deal with prolapsed discs focuses on curing pain. Anti-inflammatory medications, cortisone injections, hot packs, ultrasound, as well as restorative exercises fall in that category.

While pain reduction is important, the problem with this method is that it fails to take care of the actual underlying cause connected with the prolapsed disc: why did it herniate at all? Not paying attention to the main cause will cause regular hospital trips for pain treatMent.

Find out the root cause of the problem

A much better approach is to figure out the actual cause of the herniation and correct the problem. Not just hide the symptoms using pain killers. Besides shock, herniated discs will never manifest overnight. They generally occur as a result of continual uneven pressure to the disc caused by postural dysfunctions due to muscle imbalances.

Think about a jelly doughnut. If putting a lot of pressure on one part and not so much on the other, the jelly will bulge outside the other side away from the pressure. By using a sufficient amount of pressure, the jelly will probably break through the doughnut. At the same time, if the same amount of pressure had been used consistently over the enTire doughnut the jelly would most likely weaken but would probably stay unchanged inside the doughnut.

In the same way, whenever muscle imbalances create incorrect hip and spine posture, the spine discs between the spinal vertebrae are unnaturally forced to support extra mass and stress on one side compared to the other. Eventually, the disc weakens bringing about a protruding, herniated or maybe even a ruptured disc.

Non-surgical treatMent options for prolapsed discs:

There are as a minimum 5 major actions one can make right at home to enable target and decrease back pain originating from a herniated disc. Each could be a much better substitute method to back surgery in most cases. Minimize inflammation by increasing fluid intake, changing diet plans, and also reducing too much fibrin with proteolytic enzymes if possible.

End pain spasms, improve blood flow and help to increase range of motion using heat and cold treatment. The best quality and safe kind of heat treatment therapy is Far Infrared Heat (FIR). Decompress the disc using inversion therapy. Excellent inversion tables are offered for this purpose for only a few hundred Dollars.

Eradicate referred pain brought on by trigger points which are a form of tiny muscle contraction knots. Fix postural dysfunctions through stretching and physical fitness concentrating on certain muscle imbalances to get rid of the underlying root cause of your disc herniation.

Bookshelf Organization

Bookshelf Organization

Bookworms and bibliophiles have a special problem - they have to read. Whether it's the back of a cereal box, a favorite magazine, or David Sedaris' latest work, you'll find them deeply absorbed in some sort of literature most of the time. The downside of all this reading is that oftentimes, a bookworm's home will become overrun with reading material. Books and magazines pile up here and there until no flat surface is left uncovered. But what's a reader to do? Here are some helpful suggestions to get your library under control:

1. It's a good idea to set aside an afternoon and complete this project in one swoop. Get help from family members who contribute to you book-clutter. You'll need a few sturdy cardboard boxes for donations, and a dash of bravery.

2. Strike the easiest targets first: trashy romance novels, pulp fiction, novelizations of films - anything you may be sort of embarrassed by or just didn't enjoy reading. Go on a search-and-donate mission in every room of your home. Gather all the paperbacks into one central location and make a goal of reducing your quantity by a substantial quantity. Have boxes marked "keep" and boxes marked "donate".

3. Keep any books that you genuinely use for reference, like dictionaries, encyclopedias, or specialized books you may need for you profession. Keep books with sentiMental value, and any you still feel have some sort of lesson to teach you or you know you'll read soon.

4. A good idea is to set a selection of books in your guest room - perhaps any books that refer to the town you live in, travel tips, or attractions nearby. That way out of town guests will be able to have a reference point for last minute sight seeing trips!

5. Sort through your remaining books and put aside any that you wish to pass on to friends. Make sure they are handed over immediately. The longer you hang on, the more likely they won't end up in their intended owner's hands.

6. Put the books you wish to donate in sturdy boxes. If you are having a garage sale soon and wish to sell these books, place the boxes in a safe but out-of-the way location until the sale. Otherwise, immediately take your used books to a beneficial charity or other good cause.

7. Look at the remaining books in your home - really hunt them down, even ones in odd places like the baseMent or under the stAirs. Remove any contemporary hardbacks you didn't enjoy or know you won't read again and place them in a box to take to a used bookshop, or to give to friends and family.

8. By now you've gone through all or most of your books and are left with only those that are important and useful to you. You are ready to place them on their shelves! Before you do so, dust the shelves and the books - things that you keep on display should always be well maintained.

9. Make sure that the most frequently used reference titles are in the most accessible location. Those used less frequently may be stored in harder-to reach shelves.

10. Organize your books in a way that makes sense to you. You may want to arrange titles alphabetically by author or title or in a similar fashion to that of libraries and bookstores.

Step back from your bookshelves and stare at your life in books. You may take your organization a step further and free yourself of collections of classic books that may be worth money, or old textbooks. Freeing yourself of extraneous literature may symbolize to you more than a spring clean up - it can mean you've freed yourself from outdated ideas, and are open to new possibilities. Or just new books!

Dish Network and DirecTV Satellite Deals Online

Dish Network and DirecTV Satellite Deals Online

Buy Dish Network or DirecTV satellite TV service online and
you'll likely end up with a few extra bargains you may not
have gotten elsewhere. With hundreds of online satellite
television retailers bidding for your business, you benefit
from competition driven deals not offered by Dish Network or
DirecTV directly, even though you still receive the main
satellite providers standard promotion. This is where the
promo code comes in.

Dish Network or DirecTV promo codes aren't just for show or
just a gimmick to get you to think you're getting a better
than average deal. Promo codes are more of a tracking system
that tells Dish Network or DirecTV which of their retailers
you purchased your satellite TV system from. If you have two
Dish Network retailers, and one offers a free iPod with Dish
Network, and the other doesn't, which promo code are you
going to use?

Most satellite TV retailers will have their promo code next
to the 800 number on their web site if you should decide to
call in for service or ask questions. Make sure you have
that handy and make sure you ask your representative about
any additional or exclusive offer accompanying the standard
Dish Network or DirecTV satellite TV programming promotion,
or technically they don't have to give it to you and often
times wont unless you ask.

You're going to get the same satellite TV deals online, and
service or quality from the main satellite TV companies
regardless of which retailer you choose. With this in mind,
when shopping for satellite TV service you'll want to look
for something a retailer offers that Dish Network or
DirecTV, and even other retailers do not. A good example of
this is Dish Network retailers that offer a free iPod or
home theater system.

Neither Dish Network or DirecTV offer a free iPod or home
theater system with a service agreeMent, but some of their
retailers do because of the fierce competition out there
among satellite television service retailers for your
business. They know you're looking for something extra and
that is the retailers way of saying thank you for your
business. Most retailers are small to medium sized
businesses and eternally grateful for every single sale that
helps them grow.

Take advanTAGe of the competition! That's the beauty of
shopping online! Sure, we could call Dish Network directly
today and get a great deal on a satellite TV system, and
programming, but will we get anything extra? Nope! If you
were at the grocery store getting milk, and you saw one
brand that offered a free box of cereal if you buy theirs,
and another brand that offered nothing extra, but both were
the same price, which would you choose?

Shopping for satellite TV deals online is no different. If
you saw one Dish Network retailer that offered nothing
extra, then another Dish Network retailer that offered a
free Dish Network iPod or home theater system, and the
prices for the satellite systems and satellite programming
options where exactly the same, which would you choose? Why
would anyone shop online and choose an inferior offer? Most
don't, they're just unaware.

When you shop for Dish Network or DirecTV online, get what
you came for! A great deal. Every Dish Network and DirecTV
retailer in the world are going to provide Dish Network or
DirecTV's current standard offer, but you want more right?
That's why you're looking online instead of calling the Dish
Network or DirecTV 800 number isn't it? It's always a great
feeling when you get a bonus for buying something you were
going to get anyway!

1-800-333-DISH (3474) is the contact number of Dish Network technical support team. Just give them a call and they will try their best to fix your problem. However, it's recomMended for you to try fixing it out before calling the tech support. Below are checklists on what you should do.

Firstly, reset your receiver by pressing and holding the Front Panel Power button on your satellite receiver for 10 seconds. Your receiver will reset and return to normal within a few minutes. This is to set the receiver to default setting in case you have made some unnecessary setting changes.

Secondly, check that your TV is set to channel 3 or 4. If your remote control is identified by a blue number 2, also try channel 60 or 73.

Thirdly, make sure the receiver is continuously connected to a working phone line. Without the phone line, receiver is unable to communicate with the dish.

Fourthly, check out the low battery indicator on your TV screen and be sure to replace the batteries in your remote control as necessary. We will easily miss this part as this seldom happens still it's an important step.

Fifthly, check the dish outside your house whether there is anything that blocking your satellite signals (tree branches, Snow, etc). Obstacles always cause Snowy screen so be sure your dish is free from those things.

Please do not try removing neither any hardware nor the dish itself. Do not try to peep inside what's wrong as it's dangerous. Safety always come first.

Differences Between Dish Network and Direct TV Packages

Differences Between Dish Network and Direct TV Packages

When it comes to picking out a satellite television company, information overload can hinder the decision making process.  So many prices, packages, and promises are thrown out to the consumer by the big players in satellite service - Dish Network and Direct TV.

So how can you make the right choice?  What differences are there in the Dish Network and Direct TV packages available in today's market?

Lets start by considering Direct TV packages. In general, the packages found here are more all inclusive than those offered by Dish Network.  Local channels are included in all of the bundles offered.  There is also a heavy emphasis on advanced services.  These services are digital video recorders (DVR) and high definition (HD).  Several packages include these services in the overall price.

You will also find a heavy emphasis on sports programming.  While many of these premium sports packages cost extra, some of them like the NFL Sunday Ticket are Direct TV exclusives, so you won't find them at all with Dish TV.

Now Dish Network packages are designed to keep costs down.  While you can usually find a package for less than Direct TV or your cable provider, that doesn't mean the quality will be lacking.  In fact, the HD content on Dish Network is as good as any other pay TV company.  That being said, with these packages you can add and remove features easily, such as local programming or DVR service.  That allows the budget minded subscriber to control his satellite TV bill as much as possible.

There is also the option to go with one of the Turbo HD packages offerd by Dish.  These affordable packages only have HD content, so the number of channels is much lower than a standard package.  At this time, no other satellite or cable TV provider offers this type of channel lineup.

Overall, both companies offer plenty of high quality programming at a cost that often beats your local cable company.

Inversion Table - Does it Hurt Your Feet?

Inversion Table - Does it Hurt Your Feet?

Have you ever tried using an inversion table? If no, is it because you think it may hurt your feet? If you answered yes to the later question, then I have a few suggestions that you can follow in order to not hurt your feet and still get the same benefits of using an inversion table.

First, remember and concentrate on what an inversion table can do for you. There really is not a better way to stretch out your body and back and revers the negative effects that gravity produces as it pulls on your body every day. No, remembering this benefit will not stop your pain, but it will help you keep in perspective the reason why you are going through this pain in the first place.

Second, try using a good thick pAir of socks when you hang for the first couple of times. Instead of going bare foot try using the thickest, best fitting socks that you have. I would suggest possibly finding a good pAir of cotton socks that fit your foot nice and snug (no slack), then putting a nice pAir of wool socks over them (again, make sure the wool socks are somewhat snug). This will add a nice layer of padding between your feet and the inversion table and help prevent some of the pain, if not all the pain. Many people find that they experience no pain when doing this.

Third, keep your shoes on. If you need to do this, then make sure that the shoes 'fit' well with the inversion table and your feet. What does this mean? It means that the shoes not only will not damage the machine, but also that they fit well with the machine, allowing you to hang without hurting your feet more than they would if you hung barefoot. This may take some adjusting and practice, but should take care of any issues you have.

Fourth, you can also try using gravity boots instead of an inversion table. Gravity boots are a little more difficult to use, so if you're not an athlete make sure you have someone helping you. However, I have noticed people complaining less about their feet hurting when using inversion gravity boots, so that may be a better option for you--but again only if you are agile and athletic enough to be able to use them properly and/or have someone there to help you with it.

Again, don't let the pain stop you from experiencing the best stretch in your life!

Spinal Decompression and Other Back Pain Remedies

Spinal Decompression and Other Back Pain Remedies

Decompression Therapy, or otherwise known as spinal decompression therapy, is the no-surgery remedy for neck and lower back pain. Normally, pains involving the back are caused by degenerative disc disease, herniated disc, spinal stenosis or other disc deformities.

With spinal decompression therapy, the patient avoids surgery and only attends several therapy sessions. Most patients attest to instant back pain relief even after the first decompression therapy session.

Most Popular Back Pain Remedies

Almost everyone has encountered back pain in one form or another. It was said, that back pain comes in 2nd to headache as the most prevalent neurological disorder in the U.S.A.

Because of its widespread affliction, those who suffer tried various back pain remedies. Some remedies are really effective, other alternatives just result to a much worse condition. Some of the most popular remedies to alleviate back pain are:

1.  Acupuncture - treatMent is cheap but most people are afraid of the idea of needles puncturing their skin.

2. Taking in vitamin D, B12 or magnesium - this remedy is just preventive in nature. If the patient is experiencing severe lower back pain, this remedy may help in some ways but it is not going to completely eliminate the problematic back pain.

3. Yoga - this back pain remedy is excellent for people who are still supple and have the time to attend consistent sessions spanning at least 6 months. It is not for the sickly, weakly, elderly types.

4. Massage therapy - undergoing a Massage therapy is very relaxing and removes stress. But for severe back problems and under not so well trained therapists, it may aggravate the pain and worsen the condition.

5. Surgery - many are frightened to go under the knife and it could also be very expensive and, at times, debilitating.

6. Spinal decompression therapy - a patient is firmly placed on a secured but padded spinal decompression table. The table then gradually adjusts the vertebrae that is causing the back pain problem. Immediate relief is usually experienced by the patient. It is safe, no physical exertion required and painless way to remedy back pain problems.

Spinal Decompression Is Non-Surgical

Traditionally, people treat back disorders with oral medication, physical therapy, exercises and spinal surgery. With the latest developMent in technology and cutting-edge device, spinal decompression is the best alternative that will let you say bye-bye to your back pain and avoid the need for that debilitating surgery.

A spinal decompression table program provides a non-invasive treatment alternative for most chronic back pain problems and allows patients to become active & healthy individuals again.

Install Your Own Satellite TV Dish

Install Your Own Satellite TV Dish

Connecting your TV or other home equipMent to antennas and satellite dishes are a popular way to Satellite TV nowadays. If you invest in a dish or antenna, you can have loads of choices of programs in your house. You can get a great signal from miles away and have all kinds of stations in your house. If you install either of these items yourself you will save money.

You will need to take a few things into consideration before you install it on your roof. You will want to do it right and know how to do it so that you won't have to have further complications later on. If you know how to do it the right way then you can use these great products without having to get on your roof more than one to do the Job right. If you want to save money and have a few hours to spare then installing it yourself can be worth it.

No matter what you are putting on your roof, make sure that there is a good path for it to receive information. You should be able to have an area that is not disrupted by trees, other homes, or anything else when you put it up on your roof. The enTire satellite dish must be unobstructed.

Make sure you have easy access to your satellite or antenna when you are putting it up, but make sure there are no electrical lines anywhere near it. This could be dangerous to you or anyone else going up there for repAir work. Try to be careful about placing it somewhere that may cause leaks into your house. If you place it somewhere easy to reach then you will save time and money in the future dealing with repAir work.

Make sure you have the proper equipMent when you are trying to get this Job done right. Try to make sure that the dish or antenna is as close as it can be to your TV. You will also want to measure how long the cable is to make sure that it can reach the dish or antenna from inside your home. You may need to add another cable if you must. You might need a drill and screws for drilling things in place and then securing them.

Make sure you know the right way to have the dish point. If it is the wrong direction you will not get any signals. You should have your dish at a 25 or 50 degree angle. You can use a compass to figure out which way to point your dish.

Make sure you practice good safety habits when you are on your roof installing your antenna or satellite. You don't want to fall or slip and hurt yourself. You should have someone help you with this project.

DirecTV and DISH Network - How Do The Two Leading Satellite TV Providers Stack Up?

If you live in the U.S. and want satellite TV systems, you have basically two choices. Yes, there are other providers out there, but for most viewers, DirecTV and DISH Network offer the most choices for the least money, although Pegasus and Voom are Fast becoming major contenders in the satellite television industry. Competition being what it is, both DirecTV and DISH Network offer similar services and constantly adjust to add features and outdo their rivals. So how do you choose between the two? A side-by-side comparison of the services and prices shows some differences that help customers decide which service best fits their viewing needs. But first, a little background on each provider might be helpful.

DirecTV

The company known as The DirecTV Group is made up of four main units, which include DirecTV U.S., DirecTV Latin America, PanAmSat, and Hughes Network Systems (HNS). As a group, the organization serves over 12 million U.S. satellite TV customers and another 1.5 million subscribers in Latin countries. Through PanAmSat, they operate a fleet of 25 satellites capable of providing satellite transmissions to 98% of the world. And Hughes Network Systems operates a satellite-based consumer broadband Internet access service known as DirecWay. This component of Hughes has over 180,000 subscribers. HNS is also one of the largest manufacturers of DirecTV set-top receivers. The four different aspects of The DirecTV Group give the company a large, comprehensive base of direct and indirect satellite customers. Their partnerships with technology leaders such as AOL, Microsoft, and TiVo also add to their customer base.

There are plans for improving and expanding services in efforts to attract more customers. Hughes Network Services is developing SPACEWAY, a more advanced satellite broadband communications package that is expected to provide customers with more affordable high-speed, two-way data communications. SPACEWAY is expected to be introduced in 2005.

DirecTV has been actively working to increase the number of markets where they offer local programming. In January of this year, the company added 18 new markets that will receive local channels via the DirecTV(R) programming service. By year-end, the company plans to offer local channels in a minimum of 130 markets, representing 92% of U.S. television households. Continued marketing and developMent of their Hdtv and DVR products will also be a part of their plans to expand their customer base. Two different basic dish designs and several different manufacturers provide DirecTV consumers with a number of dish options.

DirecTV subscribers have a choice of two basic dish designs for their satellite service. The round dish is the more common 18" design that has been popular across the country. The oval dish or low noise blockdown (LNB) dish is able to receive information from more than one satellite and is required for those who want to receive local channels, Hdtv, or Spanish language programming.

Popular manufacturers of DirecTV compatible dishes include Hughes, Sony, Phillips, and RCA. Current DirecTV sales and deals offer the satellite dish and other equipMent for free with a one-year commitMent. It could cost anywhere from to over 0 to purchase the DirecTV compatible dish separately.

DISH Network

EchoStar Communications Corporation and their DISH Network service are Hughes Network's top competitors. Headquartered in Englewood Colorado, EchoStar has been a leader in the satellite TV industry for over 20 years. The company, founded by Charlie Ergen, began as a distributor of C-band cable television systems and filed for a Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) license in 1987. The company received broadcast access in 1992, launched its own satellite, EchoStar I, in 1995, and introduced DISH Network in 1996.

Today, the company has 9 satellites, and through DISH Network, provides over 500 channels of video, audio, and data satellite services to over 8.5 million customers in the U.S. In addition to satellite television services, DISH Network customers can also receive high speed Internet, Interactive TV (on demand programming), and High Definition TV (Hdtv).

HDTV is EchoStar's latest innovation, which reportedly delivers extraordinarily sharp pictures and integrated sound by digitizing television programming. Broadcasting all DISH Network programming in wide-screen format and transmitting up to 10 percent more pixels, HDTV provides a clearer more proportionate picture.

In August of 2003, EchoStar was the first company to offer a satellite receiver with a built-in digital video recorder (DVR). A DISH Network standard DVR receiver allows viewers to stop, rewind, Fast forward and record up to 60 hours of live TV programming. More advanced receivers provide enhanced services.

DISH Network services can be purchased on-line or through a local retailer. Unlike its competitor, DirecTV, DISH Network offers equipment installation. This service usually involves a fee, but often is offered at free or reduced rates through special sales promotions.

The equipment needed for DISH Network satellite TV is basically the same as for DirecTV service. You need a dish, a satellite receiver, and the access cards. Depending on the type of satellite TV you want, you have several choices for equipment. Whether you want standard satellite TV or Digital Video Recording (DVR), or High Definition (HD) options, you will need a dish. Each type of service requires a different dish, but that is determined for you when you choose your package.

A Comparison

So how do the two leading satellite television services compare? Both offer over 200 channels and Pay Per View selections, DVD recorders, HDTV and seven HD channels each. But from there, things differ somewhat. Compare the different packages and the services provided. Look them over and decide which satellite TV service is best for your budget and viewing needs.
